Fairlight’s Roundhouse Children’s Centre has undergone $140,000 in structural repairs, with the childcare facility on Balgowlah Road included in the latest infrastructure works.

The expenditure was among projects reported as completed during September 2026. Council described the work as structural remediation.

Located at 26 Balgowlah Road, the Roundhouse provides long day care for local families and is approved to accommodate up to 90 children. The centre forms part of Northern Beaches Council’s network of early childhood education and care services.

Roundhouse provides 90 childcare places

The Roundhouse is one of seven long day care centres operated by Northern Beaches Council, which also provides early childhood services in Belrose, Brookvale, Dee Why, Narrabeen and Seaforth.

According to the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority, the centre holds an overall rating of Meeting National Quality Standard, issued in December 2023. The rating assesses the quality of the education and care service rather than certifying the condition of the building.

The centre’s published operating hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., Monday to Friday, excluding scheduled closures. Council manages enrolments and service enquiries through its children’s services team.

Repairs listed outside special rates program

Council’s 2026–27 capital works list identifies structural repairs at the Roundhouse among community infrastructure projects outside the special-variation-funded program.

Although the centre is located in Fairlight, the project is listed under Manly in Council’s published works schedule.

The classification distinguishes the repairs from projects specifically identified as funded through the special variation to rates. Council’s October expenditure announcement does not provide an itemised breakdown or identify the precise funding source for the $140,000.

Maintaining Fairlight’s childcare facilities

The Roundhouse repairs formed part of more than $2.2 million in infrastructure expenditure reported across the Northern Beaches during September, covering community buildings, sporting facilities, roads and public wharves.

Northern Beaches Council operates a network of long day care centres serving families across the area, with building maintenance forming part of its wider capital works responsibilities.
